Swanage Council forbid Night Stopover

The Swanage Council has strictly banned overnight stopovers for motorhomers. The decision was unanimously taken up by members of the council after people started taking undue advantage of stopovers offered by the campsite. Usually people started to take the advantage of overstay. The usually extended the stay which turned out to be an objectionable issue. Some of the minority section even started misusing car parking spaces. They used car parking areas for motorhome parking. In fact those spaces were soon turned into campsites.

Motohome Law

There were even complaints that motorhomers disposed their wastes at these public places, dirtying the place thoroughly. The wastes often spilled here and there were filth all over. There was dirt all around and people just couldn’t take this any longer. On November 2010, the transport Committee held a meeting on the issue and this when it was decided that motorhomer would be banned overnight stay.

As a result of this decision car parking facilities were withdrawn abruptly. Today its difficult to find a motorhome parking area or rather a campsite. However there are handful numbers of parking lot for the motorhomer at nearby Swanage.

With more and people opting for motorhomes as a means of tourism there are still a few motorhome sites allowing stopovers and refilling. Since Blackpool has developed as a major residential area, motorhome users are finding it hard to stop over at this place, because acceptance of locals at this area is foremost.
